Effectiveness of two sampling methods for social wasps in different ecosystems

There are different methodologies used to make an inventory of social wasps. In general, these methods divided into active search and passive collections. Each method has a performance, depending on the environment in which collection is being carried out. Thus, choice for proper methodology according study area will impact success sampled species. This aimed evaluate performance sampling wasps (active bait traps) phytophysiognomies (Regenerating Cerrado, “Cerradão”, Restored Forest, Semideciduous Forest Riparian Forest) state São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil. The greater number species, with exception Regenerating Cerrado. Regarding abundance, was also more efficient, except where there no difference between methods, traps higher individuals. fact that none collected all species indicates it appropriate use than one order obtain closer true richness studied sites.
